ABOUT ME
Beginning my career as a business communications specialist, I transitioned into public relations by working in arts management as a public relations advisor for one of the few remaining cooperative orchestras in the United States. After earning my Master's in professional writing, I soon transitioned into higher education. Starting as a writing tutor coordinator, I completed my time at a small business college as the Director of Academic Services and the Writing Program Director. Currently, I am an Associate Professor of English at Southern New Hampshire University.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
B.A. -- UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS DARTMOUTH (FORMALLY SOUTHERN MASSACHUSETTS UNIVERSITY)
Majoring in English while working on a Massachusetts certificate for teaching English 9-12, I was deeply involved in the UMass culture, including their theatre and music programs. My student teaching was completed at Westport High School (WHS) in Westport, MA.
M.A. - UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS
The M.A. program in Professional Writing and Communication at UMass maintained a hands-on approach with most classes requiring some element of "hands-on" practice or "in the field" training. This program shaped my love for public relations and instructional writing while establishing further support in teaching writing, rhetorical strategies, and composition theory.
PH.D. -- INDIANA UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA
Specializing in composition, IUP allowed me to concentrate on teaching writing, tutor development, and writing program administration. Attending the summer-residency program, I was able to maintain my full-time faculty-administrative position during the school year, and work on my Ph.D. during summers and holidays.
CERTIFIED EDUCATOR -- NATIONAL SOCIETY OF EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING (IN PROGRESS)
Currently working on a series of workshops ranging from legal issues to ethical considerations and assessment, I plan to be certified in June 2021.
KAHOOT
Kahoot's certification provides instructors with advanced skills in their online student response system (OSRS). This certification provides beginner and advanced techniques to increase student engagement.
MY SKILLS
As a lifelong learner, I’m constantly expanding my skill set through professional and personal experiences. Below you will find some of my key abilities and how these skills have led to a life-long career in education.
PUBLIC SPEAKING
Working with various audiences from around the world, I have offered lectures, led workshops, presented research, and taught practical, hands-on content. Please refer to my C.V. for a full list of domestic and international speaking engagements.
BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS
Clear, prompt, and direct messages are paramount to successful communications. I have the ability to craft instructional and step-by-step prose to help others understand key concepts. Likewise, this approach helps me to create easy-to-follow on-line courses that guide students through their content.
DIGITAL PROFICIENCY
Working with a variety of technologies, including apps, software, learning management systems, and editing programs, allows me to create and customize specialized content. My personal hobbies, videography and photography, support my professional endeavors and allows me to share my own efforts in real-time with my students when crafting digital content.
